It's kinda hard not to blog about Michael Jackson right now - the news of his death has inspired many to blog a celebration to this pop-music icon.
Everyone now seems to have an anecdote about MJ--From Anderson Cooper's Studio 54 night with the king of pop, to Rosie O'Donnell reflecting upon his life through a poem, to Lisa Marie blogging 'bout his fear of dying like her dad Elvis: The Real King! I suppose I'm not that lucky to have had the opportunity to share a moment with Michael, and I don't think I would have been able to make any positive marks in his life either. Most think they knew the man, few acknowledge how hard it was to help him. They're all speaking-up now... Where were they before the 25th? Some are asking... It's still a shocker--although his life unmistakeably seemed like a tragedy, I don't think anyone thought his last Thriller would be so Off the Wall and this Bad. Our thoughts go out to Michael's family during these difficult moments... he was definitely "special" to them. Tuesday, June 23, 2009How Much Protection Does My Suncreen Provide?
We've had rain spoiling our weekends for the past 5 weeks now - and we finally got a short break this past Sunday in South Florida. I know, I know... we have great weather year-round, but I have a 5-year old who's been dying to try his new snorkeling gear and with this funky weather lately, he was getting a bit frustrated. Anyhow, we visited an interesting beach at Lauderdale by the Sea, where you can swim out a couple hundred yards and find incredibly good spots for snorkeling. We had good luck with the weather, and of coarse that means being under direct sunlight for long hours.
Every time we visit the beach, we're amazed at the number of people who don't use sun protection. I understand most people are not too concerned about DNA-damaging UVA rays, but it's just unbelievable to me how many do not use sunscreen at all. Of coarse, there are those who are aware of the importance of protecting their largest organ from UVA/UVB rays by using SPF sunblocks. One thing everyone should know is how much protection a sunscreen provides. SPF 30 is all you need, according to skincare experts, but you must reapply sunscreen throughout the day. The maximum time for full 30 SPF protection from a waterproof sunscreen, such as MenScience TiO2 Sunblock, is about 80 minutes in the water. It's HIGHLY recommended that you reapply throughout the day to prevent getting burned. How do you know if you are still getting coverage from your sunscreen? To figure out the length of time your SPF protects you from UVB rays per application, simply follow this formula: Multiply the SPF by 10. This number is the total minutes that you will be getting the perfect maximum protection from your sunscreen. So, for example, a SPF 30 x 10 = 300 minutes of sun protection. Perfect protection doesn't account for reality – sweating or getting wet reduces the amount of time that you are covered. Plus, sometimes sunscreen can rub off on lawn chairs, towels, and clothing. Reapply MenScience TiO2 Sunblock every 1-2 hours, no matter what the SPF to be cautious. Besides, this oil free sunscreen for men moisturizes and nurtures your skin, helping it recover form the damaging effects of the sun. Get Fit This Summer: Step 1 So, let's with exercising; in general, you know that staying active is vital to your fitness--body and skin. Take full advantage of the summer days and plan outdoors physical activities that can help you eliminate fat and pump calorie-burning up. Start by obtaining a Personal Health Fitness Profile. Then, go biking, running, swiming, tennis, volleyball, baseball, basketball, surfung... anything that can make you sweat and increase your body’s metabolic rate. Do this at least 2-3 times per week for about 45-60 minutes. And remember, since you're going to be out in the sun, protect your skin from harmful summer sunrays, while conditioning it with TiO2 Sunblock SOF 30; this is a non-greasy, waterproof and sweatproof formula that combines the powerful sun blocker, Titanium Dioxide, with the softening, moisturizing and repairing effects of Aloe, Chamomile, Green Tea, Vitamin E and antioxidants, TiO2 Sunblock SPF 30 goes on invisibly and is perfect for all men’s skin types. Get Fit This Summer: Step 2 Now, in order to optimize your workouts, we recommend adding natural weight loss support supplement for men to help increase the effects of your exercise routines. Our 24 Fit System uses a proprietary combination of natural health supplements to support weight loss processes around the clock and is ideal to complement any exercise program. Of coarse, as with any weight loss program, you should try controlling your appetite and keeping your metabolism going by "eating several small meals" throughout the day. Avoid skipping meals, make sure you’ve got some healthy snack options available to you (this is a great way to get in your 5-9 servings a day of fruits and vegetables), drink LOTS of water, stay away from carbohydrates and other calorie-packed stuff like mayonnaise, butter and sour cream. Although most grilling foods are protein based, we do tend to unnecessarily enrich them with not-so-healthy condiments and spices. So, get out there and be active! A little fun exercise for your body during summer will ensure that you can enjoy those juice burgers and Argentinian Chorizos on the grill. Labels: men's weight loss |
