4 Common Men's Acne Myths

We guys will believe anything to clear up our skin from annoying acne breakouts. The last thing we want is a giant pimple – or pimples! -- immortalized forever in photos. In your quest for clear skin, you might hear people say “just pop your pimple” or “get a tan to hide acne scars.” Before you follow this bad advice, get the facts right here about some of the most common acne myths.

Myth #1: Popping pimples will get rid of them faster.
Popping pimples will certainly get rid of the bump faster, but you’ll be left with an ugly-looking scar. Think about it for a second: Do you really want to turn a temporary zit into a permanent scar? We didn’t think so. The next time you’re in a hurry to eliminate acne, turn to Acne Spot Repair. Our proven formula helps reduce bumps in just 24-48 hours – without leaving behind any marks. That’s a lot better than popping a pimple and sporting a noticeable scar for years to come.

Myth #2: A tan will hide my acne scars.
Although you might think a tan would help hide acne scars, it doesn’t really work that way. In fact, tanning can actually make your scars more pronounced; because your skin is inflamed, sunlight will turn the pigment darker and result in a permanent dark spot. The best way to get rid of acne scars is to prevent them in the first place (see #1)

Myth #3: Piling on acne creams will help get rid of acne faster.
More is not better when it comes to acne creams and pads. You’re not only wasting valuable product – and your money – but you’re also increasing the chances of drying out your skin, which in turn can aggravate breakouts. Again, the directions on the product labels are there for a reason. Use our products only as directed and you should have clear skin in no time.

Myth #4: You need to clean your face religiously.
Washing your face more than once or twice a day will do much more harm than good. Increasing the frequency of your facial cleansing routine may contribute to redness and dryness; the more you scrub your face, the higher the chance of irritation. In turn, this could make your breakouts more noticeable and even cause them to worsen. We call it Daily Face Wash for a reason: It shouldn’t be used more than that.
