The Happier Sex?
The stereotype of the working man, logging in 10 hour days as he pops aspirin after aspirin to deal with the headaches caused by his stressful job, is moving one step closer to becoming obsolete. In a new study conducted by the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, women now appear to be less happy than men, owing largely to changing home and workplace dynamics. From ABC News: "The study found that women feel they have too many choices and too many responsibilities, which adds to their feelings of sadness.....Another new study, conducted by Princeton University and released in August of this year, found that since the 1960s, men have cut back on activities they find unpleasant, but women have not."
While men seemed to have learned how to take things a bit easier, women are still dealing with full plates. But does this study really ring true? Are men happier now than they were 10 years ago? Are work and family responsibilities the sole cause of happiness? The jury still seems to be out on this one....
