It must be Halloween

There’s a chill in the air. Kids are running around in a sugar-fueled frenzy. Pumpkins are lighting up in every window. Ah, yes, it must be Halloween. The time of year when instead of worrying about mortgage payments and job promotions, we instead ponder how many Snickers bars we can eat and if a bed sheet still counts as a costume. But putting aside all of the ghouls and goblins roaming the streets, there’s still plenty of horrifying business to attend to, like dealing with tired, dull skin, under-eye circles, scars and the simple fact that every day you look just a little bit older. While the kids are out stuffing themselves silly, give yourself a different kind of treat with two types of relaxing eye relief. And not willing to be a Zombie again this year? Check out our Eye Rescue Formula and say goodbye to dark under-eye circles for good.

Dark Undereye Circles

Sometimes your biggest battles aren’t with the creatures lurking under the bed—they’re with a variety of skincare or grooming problems that just never seem to go away. Luckily, we’ve put together some tips on how to vanquish each one of these foes, even if they do seem like they never quite stay dead.

  • Frankenstein’s Monster: Reducing scars

Even if they are a natural part of your body’s healing process (the more severe a cut or injury is, the greater the chance you’ll get a scar), you can diminish unearthly scars in a wide variety of ways. Although scars often fade over time, you can help reduce their appearance by exfoliating your skin on a regular basis with a product that gently buffs away dead skin cells. This will soften the scar's edges, creating a smoother appearance. Whether your scars are from previous injuries or old acne, make sure to use a sunscreen so marks won’t re-darken when exposed to sunlight.

A dermatologist can also be a great ally for reducing marks and scars. Dermatological treatments include everything from chemical peels to laser resurfacing to dermabrasion (removal of the top layer of skin by an electrical tool), and can usually be taken care of without checking into a hospital. Although moisturizing is not proven to reduce scars, keeping skin well-hydrated can promote a smoother, more supple surface and a healthier appearance overall (we recommend the Advanced Face Lotion).

  • Night of the Living Dead: Diminishing under-eye circles

Under-eye circles can add years to your appearance. And while they can often be remedied with something as simple as getting 8 hours of sleep or more each night, severe under-eye circles could mean you are suffering from a form of hyperpigmentation. Check out our special Treatment section below for ways to improve the appearance of your eye area.

  • The Count: Anti-Aging

Don’t worry; we’re not talking about bathing in maiden’s blood here. Keeping skin looking great no matter how old you are can be accomplished by protecting it early on and diminishing the signs of aging by using cutting-edge, dermatological-grade ingredients like GABA, Peptides and Idebenone. That means using sun protection on a regular basis and maintaining it day-to-day with products that contain antioxidants and other skin-protecting agents, like MenScience Anti-Aging Formula. Cutting out bad habits (such as smoking and excessive drinking) and following an exercise plan can also help in the long run, and keep you looking great for an (unsettlingly) long time.

  • The Invisible Man: Cutting down on bacteria/germs

One of the biggest threats to your health is actually something you can’t see at all. While there’s no use trying to disinfect everything, keeping your hands, face and body relatively clean can go a long way towards avoiding some very common skin problems like athlete’s foot and acne, as well as bouts of illness. Simply wash with a cleanser that rinses completely away at least once a day or whenever skin is dirty or sweaty. Washing your hands for 20 seconds can prevent the spread of harmful bacteria up to 50 percent — leaving you a lot of sick days you can now spend on the golf course.

Treatment

Reducing under-eye circles and puffy eyes can actually be a very relaxing experience. By a simple manipulation of temperature, regularly moisturizing with a product that contains advanced scientific ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C, Green Tea and antioxidants, and a good amount of sleep, you can improve your eyes’ appearance in a very short time. For puffy or tired-looking eyes, applying cold to the area can help constrict blood vessels, slightly diminishing the flow of fluid into tissues and reducing puffiness in the process. And to improve the appearance of dark circles, try a warm treatment to reduce shadows and relax the area. Even placing slices of raw potato over your eyes for several minutes can reduce shadows, due to a natural enzyme in the vegetable that lightens dark areas.

COLD TREATMENT
  1. Place the Eye Gel Mask in the freezer for 20 minutes.

  2. Remove and wrap it in a damp wash cloth.

  3. Place over eyes for 10-15 minutes.

  4. Finish up by patting eye area dry and applying Eye Rescue Formula around each eye.
WARM TREATMENT :
  1. Heat up 2 cups of water on the stove until hot, but not boiling.

  2. Remove from heat and place the Eye Gel Mask in the water until it is warm to the touch.

  3. Wipe off and rest the warm mask on your eyes for 15 minutes.

  4. Remove mask and pat skin dry.

  5. Rub a few drops of Eye Rescue Formula into the skin area around each eye.

Eye Rescue Formula - For Dark Circles

Partying to the wee hours last night? Pulling an all-nighter for exam week? Another late night at the office? Got a taste for living flesh? If you’ve had to say “no” to someone asking one or more of the above recently, you know it’s time to take care of those dark, under-eye circles with MenScience Eye Rescue Formula. Regular use of this ultralight formula generates visible improvements on damaged or neglected skin around the eyes, as well as revitalizes a tired, burned-out appearance. A powerful combination of the hard-hitting ingredients Hyaluronic Acid, Kojic Acid and Coenzyme Q10 increases skin’s suppleness, diminishes the appearance of fine lines and helps repair the signs of damaged skin. And an innovative use of antioxidants combats the damaging effects of free radicals that lead to skin looking aged. Eye Rescue Formula goes on invisible and absorbs immediately into the skin.

Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), also known as Ubiquinol or Ubiquinone, is an essential nutrient produced by the body to help defend cells against aging and free-radical damage. It was first discovered in 1957 at the University of Wisconsin Enzyme Institute. Present in human mitochondria, the nutrient is naturally created in the body, but levels diminish with age and exposure to sun. To replenish and stabilize these levels, Coenzyme Q10 is used to effectively reduce signs of aging, especially when combined with Kojic Acid, Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin K. CoQ10 is also being studied for use in prevention of Parkinson’s Disease, metabolic disorders, heart conditions and migraine headaches.
