Solving Sports-Related Health Problems

Want people to be talking about more than your tan? Then now’s the time to start working on getting great looks for the summer. Don’t get stressed if you’re still attached to the couch; getting your body and skin in shape can be as easy as five simple steps.

1. Exfoliation: The process of buffing away dead cells from your skin’s surface can improve your appearance tremendously. But it takes time to get the best results, so begin using a product, like Microfine Face Scrub, now for a healthy tone this summer. (Exfoliation also helps you tan evenly, but don’t exfoliate the day before or immediately after you’ve been in the sun).

2. Nutritional Supplements: Maintaining a healthy, balanced diet comes down to eating right and including a supplement to help get you the nutrition levels you need. The MenScience Advanced CLA Supplement Formula is specially formulated to increase lean muscle mass and help reduce fat content.

3. Hydration: Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration and assist in processing vitamins and supplements. Keep a full water bottle handy (by the time you feel thirsty, you’re already dehydrated!).

4. Skin Protection: All those opportunities to go shirtless this summer mean you need to regularly use a sunscreen that has an SPF of 30 and provides broad spectrum protection against UVA and UVB rays (try TiO2 Sunblock SPF 30).

5. Exercise: The Surgeon General recommends at least 30 minutes a day be devoted to aerobic activity. For greater muscle gain and weight loss, strength training should also be added to your weekly routine (check below for tips on starting a program).

Stick to the Game Plan for Excellent Results

Cardio exercises can significantly improve overall health, but fitness experts also place importance on regular strength training to benefit the entire system. A strength-training routine leads directly to fat loss, muscle growth and a more toned body. Keep the following guidelines in mind when beginning a program:

If possible, get one-on-one instruction from a trainer or instructor. This will help you learn correct form and may help you avoid muscle and joint problems later on.

Do some warm-up exercises and stretches before you begin your session. It could be as simple as jogging in place for 5-10 minutes.

Start out slow in the beginning and aim to exercise at least two days a week. Once you’ve built up some tolerance, increase the number of days.

Take a supplement to assist you in building better muscle, like MenScience Advanced CLA Supplement Formula. Coupled with a healthy, balanced diet and regular exercise, it’s an ideal combination for weight-management and muscle-development routines.

Vary workout routines, targeting certain muscle groups (like arms) one day and different ones (like abdomen) the next. This allows each muscle group you exercise to rest for one day.

Keep exercises basic: start with bicep curls and chest presses, instead of jumping right onto complicated weight machines.

Sore muscles are a natural part of getting in shape, but stop and consult a doctor if you encounter sharp pains, swollen joints or if the pain lingers for several days.

Check with a doctor before beginning a strength-training program if you have a medical condition or health problems.

Advanced CLA Supplement Formula

With obesity levels among American men at an all-time high (about 69.6 million are overweight, according to the American Heart Association), a good fitness and nutrition routine is becoming a necessary part of every man’s life. It’s because of this that MenScience has introduced the Advanced CLA Supplement Formula. Providing a high concentration of Conjugated Linoleic Acid (over 1800 mg per capsule), the Advanced CLA Supplement Formula helps improve lean muscle mass growth and is 100% natural and free of stimulants. The high concentration of CLA requires only a single dosage a day and allows the supplement to stay in the system for a longer period of time. It is an ideal complement to weight-management, muscle-development and exercise programs.

A natural Omega-6 fatty acid present in milk, cheese and meat from grass-fed animals, Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) has been shown to possess antioxidant qualities and cancer-fighting abilities. CLA also assists in building muscle, decreasing body fat and benefiting the immune system. While it does not cause weight loss, when incorporated into a healthy diet and exercise regimen, it promotes the conversion of dietary fat into muscle growth and helps keep weight maintained.

Bill FontanaOur newest addition to the series is Vincent Solomeno, a college graduate on the fast track to a successful political career. In 2000, Vincent was voted Executive Director of the local Democratic Party in his hometown. Not bad for a kid who was still a few years shy of the legal voting age. Only 15 at the time, he worked on a campaign that produced the town’s first party win in ten years. Vincent went on to attend the University of Scranton, where he assisted Wesley Clark’s 2004 presidential campaign, and won both Fulbright and Harry S. Truman Scholarships. After graduation this May, Vincent will work at a prestigious internship in Washington, D.C. before jetting off to Amsterdam to begin his studies as a Fulbright scholar.
